The BJP is all set to sound the poll bugle in Maharashtra with party president Amit Shah to address a rally at Kasturchand Park on January 20. The ruling party at state and the Centre has organised a two-day programme in Nagpur that will kick start on January 19. The event is being organised under the banner of the SC wing of the BJP.
Party sources said that Shah would address a public rally on the second day of the programme, which would also mark the BJP’s Lok Sabha poll campaign in Maharashtra.
The office-bearers and members of party’s Nagpur unit are busy in preparations as several rounds of meetings are convened daily. The party high command has categorically instructed MPs, legislators and senior leaders from the region to ensure that Shah’s rally become a big hit. It is learnt that each senior politician has been given a target to arrange a set number of people for the programme as BJP wants to show its strength and public support to opposition parties through this event.
Pamphlets, highlighting the works accomplished and undertaken by the government for the welfare of common people are being distributed.
The BJP is concerned about Dalit leader Prakash Ambedkar forging alliance with Asaduddin Owaisi. The convention was earlier proposed in Lucknow but after the alliance was announced in a major show of strength by Ambedkar and Owaisi, it was decided to hold it in Nagpur. The BJP also mulled to hold this event in Mumbai but it was later decided to organise the programme at KP Ground, the place where Ambedkar and Owaisi announced their alliance in front of a huge gathering.
