The Mankapur police on Thursday arrested a youth for duping an unemployed to the tunes of crores of rupees promising them of jobs in Maharashtra State Electricity Generation Company Limited (Mahagenco). The name of the arrested has been given as Sandeep Domaji Meshram (28) while is aide Ishwar Timaji Pethuike is absconding. Both are residents of Swali, Parsaoni.
According to information, Ashish Thakur, a resident of Shrinagar, Koradi, who completed ITI, was in search of job. A woman, one of his neighbours knows the accused. She introduced Ishwar to Ashish telling him that he was her brother and working as chief engineer with Mahagenco. The accused promising a job in Mahagenco demanded money from Ashish.
Ashish, along with his two friends, started paying money to the accused since July 2016. Sandeep Meshram would collect the money regularly. In August, the accused then called Ashish to Mahagenco power plant in Koradi for interview. According to Ashish, there was a room near the main gate of Mahagenco plant, where he was given an appointment letter after the interview. Till the time, Ashish along with his two friends had paid an amount of Rs 3.75 lakh to the accused. As mentioned in the appointment letter, Ashish reached the plant on August 23 to join the duties. The watchman after seeing the letter told Ashish that it was fake, adding that there was no recruitment in the plant.
Ashish then lodged a complaint with the Mankapur police station.
