In a shocking incident late on Sunday night, a 31-year-old man was brutally murdered over a money dispute near Tajuddin Baba Dargah Road in Khadan Basti, Gondwana Chowk, under the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station. The deceased, identified as Ajay Murlidhar Gate, was a resident of Byramji Town, Adiwasi Nagar, Khadan.
According to the complaint filed by his brother Amit Murlidhar Gate (32), the incident occurred between 12:15 am and 1:00 am. A group of local youths – Karan Yadav, Aman Yadav, Akhilesh, Anup, Mukesh, and several unidentified associates – allegedly attacked Ajay with sharp weapons, stones, and bricks after he refused to lend them money. Police said the attack appeared premeditated, and the victim suffered grievous injuries to his body, abdomen, and face, leading to his death.
Based on the complaint, Sadar Police registered a case under Sections 103(1), 103(2), 189(2), 189(4), 191(2), 191(3), and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 37(1), 37(3), and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. Acting swiftly, police arrested three of the accused – Akhilesh Dnyaneshwar Kangali (24), a resident of Behramji Town, Gondwana Chowk; Anup alias Karan Jai Kanojia (20), a resident of Samta Nagar near Shahu Atta Chakki in Kapil Nagar; and Mukesh alias Aman Chaitu Uike (19), a resident of Rajnagar slum in Sadar. Further investigations are underway under the guidance of Sub-Inspector Mandhre.
