Nearly 20 lakh people in Nagpur district are now eligible for health insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (Ayushman Bharat).
A total of 19,88,483 beneficiaries are covered under the scheme, with 1,75,956 new Ayushman Bharat e-cards issued over the past three months.Under the scheme, each eligible family can avail of cashless medical treatment of up to ₹5 lakh per year at empanelled hospitals.
The district administration said the achievement was made possible through a special enrolment drive led by Collector Kumar Ashirwad, with support from the District Civil Surgeon, Zilla Parishad and Nagpur Municipal Corporation health officials.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule praised the district administration for expanding the scheme’s coverage.
They also directed officials to ensure that all eligible families receive the benefits of the health insurance programme.Bawankule congratulated Collector Kumar Ashirwad, Zilla Parishad CEO Vinayak Mahamuni, and all officers and staff associated with the Ayushman Bharat scheme for the successful enrolment drive.
