Two held with drugs worth Rs 1.45 lakh
Police have busted a gang dealing in a sedative ‘mephedrone’ at Tajabagh area. The raid was conducted by the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Drugs (NDPS) cell of the crime branch. The NDPS team has arrested an externed goon and his aide. Drug worth Rs 1.45 lakh was also recovered from them. The accused included Javed alias Bachha Ataullah Khan, 35, a resident of Azad Nagar Abd Arshad Ahmed, 21, a resident of Rohid Nagar in Tajabagh area. Arshad is an externed goon. Mephedrone is a party known and is very popular among those who also call it ‘white’. It is also very expensive as compared to other sedatives. One gram of this drug is priced around Rs.3,500.
Both the accused were involved in smuggling of the drug with the help of a gangster of Tajabagh locality. The NDPS cell was looking to catch the accused red-handed for a long, however, due to some alleged insiders, they were unable to catch them.
On Sunday, police received a tip-off off about the delivery of illegal drugs. A team of cops kept a close watch on the movement of accused and nabbed then red-handed with the drug at 4.30 pm on Sunday.
Goon, aide booked for extortionÂ
Police have booked notorious goon Raj Alexander and his accomplice Vicky Jaiswal for allegedly demanding extortion of Rs.3 crore from a youth. The complaint was lodged by Anand Bondre, a resident of Mankapur.
Police sources said that the victim went to a bar on central avenue near Mayo hospital on Sunday night. The accused reached the bar soon and demanded ₹3 crore from him. They have been demanding money from the complainant in the past as well. On Sunday night too they demanded money when he refused the accused thrashed him.
Bondre then lodged a complaint with Ganeshpeth police. However, he too was unable to answer the police query that such a huge amount was being demanded by the accused. Further investigation into the case is going on.
Minor booked for threatening a teenage girl
A juvenile was booked by Dhantoli police for threatening to commit suicide in a one-sided love. Sources said that the victim and the accused live in the same locality. The accused was having one-sided love with the victim. The 15-year-old girl when informed her parents about the boy, they sent the girl to their relative’s residence at Dhantoli. However, the accused somehow got her new address and tried to contact her. He also threatened to commit suicide if she did not talk over the phone. The girl then informed her parents who then lodged a complaint with the police.
