Various government departments of the State have failed to spend the amount allotted for different developmental works. According to information, works worth Rs 452 crore were approved in the district, of which the State government allotted Rs 315 crore. However, various government agencies engaged in the works could spend only Rs 197 crore. This showed the works were moving at snail’s pace.
This was revealed at the District Planning Committee (DPC) meeting chaired by guardian minister of the district Chandrashekhar Bawankule at Dr. Vasantrao Deshpande Hall on Monday. Taking a serious note of the matter, Bawankule ordered the officials concerned to spend the entire amount before March 31.
Some of the departments did not spend a single rupee. These departments include assistant commissioner, fisheries, water supply department, dairy development department, PWD and works related to the development of pilgrimage places.
Zilla parishad president Nisha Sawarkar, mayor Nanda Jichkar, MLAs Krishna Khopde, Vikas Kumbhare, Sunil Kedar, Sudhir Parwe, Sudhakar Kohle, Dr Milind Mane, Mallikarjun Reddy, former MLA Ashish Jaiswal, district Ashwin Mudgal and municipal commissioner Abhijit Bangar were present at the meeting.
