Nagpur Garden Club organised the 109th annual flower show, 42nd cacti and succulent show and 34th dahlia and gladioli show at Kusumtai Wankhede Hall, North Ambazari Road, in the city recently.
The show was held in memory of Leelatai Subhedar, past president of the club and was inaugurated by Deepak Khirwadkar, director, South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur. Shrad Paliwal, president of the club welcomed the guest. Aasawari Shenolikar, magazine editor, The Hitavada, was the guest of honour. Kedar Gokhale, chairman, flower show committee read out the annual report. Lata Andhare, secretary proposed vote of thanks.
Special attraction of the show was decorations using bamboo, flowers and greens by a team of Nagpur Garden Club comprising Rajashree Bapat, Aarti Rajkondawar, Swati Gokhale, Lata Andhare, Manisha Kulkarni, Anuja Parchure, Padma Deshraj and Rajashree Patil in association with Bamboo Vikas Mahamandal, Nagpur.
Total 101 participants took part in the competition, which also included annual garden competition. Mansoora Zahoor Hasan won maximum prizes in the show followed by National Academy of Defence Production (NADP) and Rekha Deshmukh and Sonal Duddalwar.
The judges were Lata Andhare, Arti Rajkondawar, Om Jajodia, Ramesh Madnani and Padma Deshraj, for garden competition. M Ashok Agarwala, Chanchalsing Renu, Mr Chinchmalatpure, P N Â Bhute, Dr Neha Chopde, Dr.Sumedha Puranik, Swapna Rane and Sharayu Shivankar for various divisions of the flower show. The prize distribution ceremony of the show will be held on January 20.
