Inter-college yoga competition, organised by the physical education and sports department of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University, began at Dhanwate National College.
Resident editor of Marathi daily Maharashtra Times; Shripad Aprajit was the chief guest, who after garlanding the statue of the founder of Shivaji Education Society; Panjabrao Deshmukh, declared the competitions opened.
Principals of different colleges, yoga experts and faculty of Dhanwate National College were prominently present at the inaugural function. This included Dr Sonali Shirbhate, Dr Mohan Kadve, Dr Ashutosh Tiwari, Bhushan Taake, Dr Ejaj Sheikh, Dr Jagdale, Dr Varma, Prof Jayant Ramteke, Dr Depak Borkar, Dr Sanjay Chaudhari, Jayant Jichkar, Dr Subhash Dhadhe, Dr Jichkar, Dr Khadse, Dr Meghe and Dr Vinod Waghle. The competition began with suryanamaskar.
Competitors from 13 colleges in men’s category and 16 colleges in women’s category are participating in the event. On the first day, competitions of suryanamaskar (10 marks), compulsory asanas 4 (40 marks) and optional asanas 3 (30 marks) were held.
The competition of compulsory and optional asanas will be held on the second after which, the results will be declared. Dr Devendra Wankhede worked as competition incharge.
