Newspaper vendors perform their job very honestly with hard work throughout the year. Their problems are of very minor nature. “As a Guardian Minister of the district, I will raise these problems before the State government, said Chandrashekhar Bawankule.â€
He was delivering the inaugural address at the state-level convention of the newspaper vendors at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande Hall, Civil Lines in the city.
Industries Minister Subhash Desai, MP Krupal Tumane, MLA Pravin Darekar, MLA Sudhakar Kohle, Shrikrishna Chandak, Rajesh Pande, Pravin Dharmik, Balaji Pawar and office-bearers of local and state-level organisation of newspaper vendors were present on the occasion.
The newspaper vendors’ demands include setting up a welfare board for them, giving them benefit of housing scheme, pension scheme, issuing them permanent stalls, issuing stalls on priority at railway stations and bus stands among others.
After inaugurating the convention by lighting the traditional lamp, the guests released a souvenir on the occasion. The other guests also spoke at the programme, which was attended by a large number of newspaper vendors from across the state.
