The Nagpur centre of Indian Water Resources Society (IWRS) organised painting competition at 17 centers in the city simultaneously on Sunday. Around 4000 students took part in the mega event aimed at creating awareness among people on water conservation.
There were three groups for the competition and the group wise topics included water saving measures, water purification and reuse.
At Pandit Bachharaj Vyas Vidyalaya and Junior College, around 500 students gave message of water conservation through innovative paintings.
Among various issues touched by the talented little artistes included – importance of water conservation, solutions to meet future water requirement, planning, water wastage, dams and canals conservation, purified water and its importance, etc.
The Indian Water Resources Society organises various events like lectures, seminars, convention, exhibition, poetry and musical eve, etc to create awareness on water conservation.
Moreover, training is also imparted to farmers so that they can optimise the use of water.
Wall paintings and other innovative ideas are also implemented throughout the year. Sanjay Wankhede, Chairman of IWRS Nagpur Center, Secretary Pravin Mahajan, Treasurer Ravikant Paithankar, Joint Secretary Vivek Dikshit, Parakh Dabhade, a teacher of Pt Bachhraj School and his colleagues, former Secretary SW Deshpande, Shrikant Doifode were present.
Ms Burade, Ms Tongse, Prakash Patil, Jitendra Turkhede, Anil Farkade, Satish Telang, Rajkumar Meshram, Sudhan Dhawale, Rajesh Shukla, Shende, Praveen Gawande, Sunil Kantode, Manekar Madam, Palaskar, Deshkar, Wanjari, Khan, Kevatkar, Dhawad, Bhole Madam, Indrayani Mahalle, Ms Dhole Madam and others gave valuable contribution.
Teachers, management and staff of Prakash Kanya Shala, Shri Convent, Vinayak Deshmukh High School, Ujwal Vidyalaya, Kalode High School, Jawaharlal Nehru Mahavidyalaya, Pt Bachhraj Vyas Vidyalaya, Laxmibai Mude High School, Major Hemant Jakate High School, Rajendra High School, Bal Jagat etc. worked hard to make the competition successful.
