Education and employments are the main tools to control crime rate in the society, said city Commissioner of Police Dr Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay. He was speaking as chief guest at a programme organised by Central India Group of Institutions under the aegis of Mehmuda Shikshan & Mahila Gramin Vikas Bahuddeshiya Sanstha, Nagpur at Lonara College Campus.
Cheques worth Rs 15 lakh were also distributed to students on the occasion.
Dr Upadhyay said, no individual is criminal by nature but it is the circumstances which provoke criminal tendencies in a person. He said that 95% of crimes are committed in a fit of anger. There is always a scope to integrate people with background of such crimes into the main stream of the society. He asked the students to develop high level of tolerance and always speak and spread the language of love and care. The human values could be developed, if we could maintain the time tested joint family system in our society, he added.
He further advised the students to practice Yoga for seeking better behavioral changes.
Assistant Commissioner of Food & Drugs Administration; Nagpur; Dr PM Ballal, said pharmaceutical profession plays a vital role in treating life style disorders. Director; Kunal Hospital; Dr Shishir Shrivastava, advised the students of nursing to promote care, compassion and confidence amongst the patients.
Corporator Prafula Gudhe Patil, corporator, asked the students to avail benefits of scholarship and skill development programmes sponsored by the government agencies.
Former cabinet minister; Dr Anees Ahmed who presided over the function asked the students to work hard for their academic excellence and be grateful to their parents and teachers.
Dr Upadhyay also inaugurated Gharib Nawaz Skill Development programme and also took part in the medicinal herb plantation programme organised by the students of Pharmacy Department.
On the occasion, Manju Bhattacharya, Asst. Director of Alexis Hospital Nagpur and Laxmi Polkundwar, Yoga Teacher were felicitated.
Dr Yasmin Siddique, Principal D.Ed. College conducted the proceedings while Dr Swati Raut, Principal of B.Ed. College proposed a vote of thanks.
