21st Convocation ceremony of Govt Polytechnic held
Chief Engineer of Nagpur region of Public Works Division (PWD) Ulhas Debadwar announced that his department would give opportunities to the polytechnic students. This would help the students to do internship during their holidays and get training, he said. These students will be given train certificates that would help them to get jobs, Debadwar said.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the 21st Convocation ceremony at the Government Polytechnic on Thursday. Joint Director, Technical Education Directorate, Gulabrao Thakre presided over the function. Principal of the college Dr Chandrashekhar Thorat and Assistant Director; Dr Surendra Kukadpawar were prominently present on the occasion.
Debadwar said he along with principal Thorat are working out a scheme in this regard. A time table is also being chalked out, to decide as to when the students should be sent to the PWD office, he informed.
He further said that all the contractors and consultants of PWD will be appealed to visit polytechnic colleges and provide employment to the students through campus selection. The objective is to provide practical knowledge to the polytechnic students, he said.
Most of the students seeking admissions in polytechnic colleges come from middle class or lower income group, who nurture a dream of getting a good job after achieving the diploma. However, this dream remains unfulfilled for want of experience in some reputed institution. This is the reason he has decided to provide training opportunities to the polytechnic students, he said.
He also informed the students about the future challenges and asked them to move forward without any tension.
Total 21 meritorious students of April-May 2018-19 and final year’s exam held in October-November 2018 were awarded on the occasion. Similarly, 715 students were given diplomas. Dhananjay Hiwase, a student of Mechanical Engineering was awarded with one gold and seven other prizes. Civil Engineering students Neelam Kapse and Sheikh Salman Sheikh Karim were awarded a silver medal each along with four prizes each.
In addition, Krutika Kamthe, Ketki Dhapke, Rupesh Singh Solanki, Rushabh Thakre, Harshraj Dhote, Akanksha Singh Mehra, Shubham Kevte, Abhivnav Roy, Yuglesh Devikar and Piyush Gawande were awarded a gold medal each.
