Centre Point School (CPS), Dabha, emerged as champions in the Subroto Mukherjee Under-17 Rural Football Tournament for girls, organised by the Nagpur District Sports Office (DSO), with the final held at SFS College Ground on Monday.
In a thrilling title clash, CPS faced off against St. Ursula School. Both teams displayed commendable skill and resilience, resulting in a goalless draw during regular time. The outcome was ultimately decided in a tense tiebreaker, where Harshita Rathod, Lavanya Kharbe, and Saisha Ramteke scored for CPS, securing a 3-2 victory. For St. Ursula, Akshara Sarave and Priya Dhurva were the lone scorers in the shootout.
In the hardline match for third place, St. Vincent Pallotti School edged past St. Joseph Convent 4-3 in another close tiebreaker.
Meanwhile, in the Under-15 boys NMC category, Bhavan’s Trimurti Nagar, St. John’s Public School, SFS Sadar, and Bishop Cotton (State Board) advanced to the semi-finals with solid performances.
In the Under-17 boys quarter-finals, SFS Sadar, CPS Dabha, Narayana Vidyalayam, and St. John’s (State Board) secured their spots in the final four, setting the stage for another round of competitive football.
