Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar who clinched the bronze medal in 2008 Beijing Olympics and silver in 2012 London Olympics said he was optimistic to win the medal for the country in 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He was in the city to attend the inaugural function of the sports festival organised by Priydarshini Group of Institutions on Wednesday.
While speaking with media person about forthcoming Olympic he said, “I have started the preparation under the guidance of Satpal. In next three month, I will train myself at Belarus or Azarbaijan. I am optimistic to win the medal on the basis of my strong will power and positive thinkingâ€, he said.
The wrestler also appreciated Khelo India project of the Central Government.”The project like Khelo India helps to identity the young talent in the country. The same players can become future Olympians for the country.â€, said Arjuna, Padmashree and Rajiv Gandhi Khelratna awardee Sushil Kumar.
He also said that government should give the attention to all games instead of one or two. ” I agree that players need government support but at the same time they should be prepared to make the sacrifices for the country, he said. Asked about biopic on his career he said, ” I never considered myself as ‘ role model’ . Therefore I am not serious about it”, he said. Chairman of Lokmanya Tilak Jankalyan Shikshan Sanstha Dr Satish Chaturvedi and secretary Abha Chaturvedi were also present on the occasion.
