Shri Nagpur Gujarati Mandal was formed in 1905 and is credited with being one of the oldest socio-educational organizations in central India which runs nine educational institutions, from KG to PG of which VMV College is one.
Shri Nagpur Gujarati Mandal which runs VMV commerce, JMT Arts and JJP Science College is entering its 50th year. An inaugural function of golden jubilee celebration will be held on Saturday afternoon at college premises, Wardhman Nagar, at 4.30 pm.
The event will be inaugurated by the hands of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, whereas Union Minister of State for HRD, Dr Satyapal Singh and Vice Chancellor of Sant Gadgebaba Amravati University, Dr Murlidhar Chandekar will be the guests of honour.
The college has also organised a schedule of year long program during golden jubilee celebrations which includes Essay, Elocution, Dance, Drama, Garba, Fashion show and music competition at the city intercollegiate level will be held from time to time. Inter school Painting competition for students from school located in Wardhaman Nagar will also be organized.
City Inter Jr. Collegiate level Science Exhibition will be organized. Various lectures by eminent scholars/Personality will be held. Many, intercollegiate quiz competition in math/chemistry/computer science will also be organized. Along with sports tournaments, workshops on robotics, multifunctional materials etc will be organised for the science students.
To mark the golden jubilee year college will also add some start some additional courses for the regular students and the general public.
The yearlong celebrations will end with the concluding ceremony in the month of December. It will be marked by the publication of commemorative souvenir featuring all the activities and having articles on the growth of the institute.
Shri Nagpur Gujarati Mandal is not only one of the oldest socio – educational organizations but has a singular objective to contribute for the all round growth of students to make them the worthy citizens of the country.
While addressing a press conference, Vice President, Shri Nagpur Gujarati Mandal, Adv. Narendrabhai Jha, and General Secretary, Shri Nagpur Gujarati Mandal, Adv. Sanjaybhai Thakar, informed that the arts and commerce stream of their institution were started in the year 1969 with a meager of 28 students on the roll. Since then the institute is known for imparting higher education to the students of the eastern part of our city and became a multi-discipline PG college having six thousand students.
Principal, Dr. K. P. Kariya, Prof. K. M. Purohit, Dr. Abhay Mudgal and Prof. S. B. S. Singh were prominently present in the conference.
