The results of JEE Advanced 2025, the gateway to prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), were declared on Monday, bringing cheer to many aspirants from Nagpur despite a marginal drop in the city’s overall success rate. Standing out among them is Kaushik Jibhkate, who has emerged as Nagpur’s city topper and a strong contender for Vidarbha topper, securing an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 139.
The exam was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 18. Around 3,500 to 4,000 students from Nagpur district appeared for the exam, with nearly 200 candidates achieving ranks within the top 5,000 nationally.
Kaushik, a student of Allen’s Classroom Program, led the district with his outstanding performance. Other notable achievers from the city include Nishit Jhala (AIR 253) and Ramanshu Padole (AIR 283). In total, 6 students have made it to the top 500, 11 students to the top 1,000, 17 students within 2,000, 32 students within 3,000, and 51 students have secured ranks under 5,000.
Students from other institutions also fared well. Amogh Gotmare from Dr. Ambedkar College achieved AIR 2,349 and ranked 416 in the OBC category. Purva Umale secured AIR 2,972 and 551 in OBC, while Mrunmay Urkude obtained AIR 16,153 and ranked 449 in SC category.
This year, over 1.5 lakh students qualified for JEE Advanced, competing for approximately 20,000 engineering seats across IITs nationwide. The competition was tougher than usual due to a rise in the cut-off and the reinstatement of the minimum 75% eligibility criterion in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) in Class 12— a rule that had been relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
