The Social Security Branch of the city police on Saturday arrested a woman forcing girls into flesh trade and rescued two girls. The name of the arrested was given as Babita Borikar (38), a resident of Plot No 151, Jafar Nagar, Borgaon, under the jurisdiction of Gittikhadan police station.
Babita, who is originally a resident of NIT Quarters, Anand Nagar, Binaki Layout, was running a beauty salon in Sadar from a rented place. She forced the girls working in her salon into the flesh trade luring them for money, the police said.
On a tip off, a police team led by Police Inspector Vikram Goud of Social Security branch, Assistant Police Inspector Anupama Jagtap, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ajay Jadhav, Assistant Sub-Inspector Damodar Rajurkar, Assistant Sub-Inspector Subhash Khedkar, Head Constable Shitalprasad Mishra, Anil Dube, Chandrashekhar Ghagre, Pralhad Dole, Archana Raut and Sadhana Chavan raided the salon in presence of independent witnesses Vijayrani Reddi and Nisha Morey. The police team rescued two girls, who were forced into the flesh trade.
Police also arrested Babita and registered an offence under relevant sections. Further investigations are on. The entire operation was carried out under the guidance of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjeev Kamble and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sambhaji Kadam.
