Ashadeep Apang Mahila Bal Vikas Sanstha, Nagpur, installed its Ashadeep Cricket Team of Blind Women on the special occasion of International Women’s Day, befitting its purpose of empowering women.
Chief guest  Ravi Wagh, President, Maharashtra cricket Association for Blinds, and guest of honour Ajay Muni, distinguished Coach of Maharashtra cricket Team for Blinds, installed the team led by Manisha Chandekar and distributed playing kits to the players along with the Coach Dnyaneshwar Borchate.
The installation ceremony was organized in collaboration of RTM Nagpur University Girls Hostel, Nagpur.
Ravi Wagh, a visually impaired national player himself, narrated his experiences and inspired players to raise upto national level.
Ajay Muni, trained by famous Coach Late Ramakant Achrekar, sited the example of Sachin Tendulkar and advised the players to work hard and attain higher and higher goals.
Ashwini Maske, a student of the hostel, delivered a welcome speech and Namrate Dengani offered floral welcome to the guests.
Dr. Pratima Shastri, President of the Sanstha, in her introductory remark enlightened the audience about the activities of Ashadeep and motivated the team to rise against all odds with winning spirit. Dr. Mandakini Patil, warden of the hostel, appreciated the zeal of the players to overcome the obstacles and thanked for giving opportunity to arrange such interactive program, which enhances the sense of social responsibility in young students and creates a bond of love with the specially abled individuals.
Dr. Nutan Deo co-ordinated the distribution ceremony. Aparna Kulkarni, Secretary of the Sanstha proposed vote of thanks. The program was compered by Dr. Anagha Nasery.
Mrudula Deshpande, (hostel Metron) along with her staff, members of the Ashadeep Alka Shesh, Jayashri Pandharpurkar worked hard for the success of the program.
The inmates of the hostel enthusiastically participated in the program and lovingly offered their helping hand to the players
The team participated on the same day, in a friendly match organised by Blind Cricket Association of Maharashtra, in association with VNIT.
