Since UMANG has to move Nagpur, Nagpur Sub Area has taken a number of initiatives to reach out to the local population. One such noble initiative, “SAMVEDANAâ€, was dedicated to the “Orange City†by Chairperson of the Nagpur Sub Area Family Welfare Organization, Chanda Kundra, March 09.
“Daan†or the “Art of Givingâ€, is a virtue that has been taught by Indian scriptures since time immemorial and is deeply embedded in the Indian culture. Helping the needy is akin to being blessed by the Lord himself, it is said.
SAMVEDANA, a selfless project started by Nagpur Sub Area, aims to help the poor of Nagpur, for whom, managing two meals a day or clothes to protect them from the elements, itself is a challenge.
Under this initiative, a place has been earmarked at the UMANG Suvidha Kendra, in the Station Canteen near Kingsway Hospital consisting of a refrigerator and a wardrobe where anyone can donate surplus food and clothes which may be used by those who cannot otherwise afford them. SAMVEDANA aims to not only prevent wastage but also to inculcate compassion and empathy in each of us towards the less privileged and thereby experience “the Joy of Givingâ€.
A 24×7 venture, SAMVEDANA will be open for access to all who wish to donate whatever they can and to those who need them the most. With this little gesture, Nagpur Sub Area aims to epitomize the saying  Daan hii Sabse Bada Dharma hai.
