As many as 1,95,148 children in the age group of 0-5 years were administered polio dose in the jurisdiction of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) under the National Pulse Polio Campaign on Sunday.
Mayor inaugurated the campaign at Late Prabhakarrao Datke Diagnosis Clinic by administering polio dose to a child. Chairman; Health Committee; Manoj Chaple, corporator Sarla Naya, Shraddha Pathak, Additional Municipal Commissioner Ram Joshi, Deputy Director; Health Department; Nagpur Division; Dr Dhakate, NMC Health Officer Dr Sarita Kamdar, Pulse Polio Nodal Officer; Dr Sunil Dhurde, co-ordinator Dr Vijay Joshi, Dr Vijay Tiwari, Dr Narendra Bahirwar, Dr Khwaja and Deepali Nagre were prominently present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Ms Jichkar said no child should be left out of polio drops. During the second phase of the drive, volunteers will visit every house from March 12 to 16 and give dose to the left out children, she informed.
There was a set target of giving polio drops to 2,76,135 children of which 1,94,148 were administered the dose which was 70.67 per cent of the target. The team of Health Department, NMC worked hard for the success of the drive.
