A two day International Conference on Advances & Challenges in Energy Research (ICACER- 2019) organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, Nagpur has been recently inaugurated. The conference is organised in association with CSIR-NEERI, Institution of Engineers (India) as knowledge partners.
ICACER-2019 has been  recently inaugurated, at Chitnavis Centre, Civil lines, Nagpur at the hands of Chief guest Chairman, Solar Energy Society of India (SESI), New Delhi, Prafulla Pathak,. Scientist and Officer In-charge CIMFR, Dr. Shripal Singh, was our guest of honor. Vice Chairman, RCOEM Chandrakantbhai Thakar, presided over the function, General Secretary, RCOEM, Govindlal Agarwal, Secretary, RCOEM, Rajendra Purohit, Principal and General Chair, Dr. R. S. Pande, Convener Dr. K.N. Agrawal, and Co-Convener, Dr. M. M. Gupta were prominently present.
At the outset ICACER-2019 was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp. Convener, ICACER-19, Dr. K. N. Agrawal, in his introductory remarks highlighted the various sessions, plenary talks and deliberations to be held during the two days of conference. The conference delegates were from research organizations, academic institutions in India and abroad and industry personnel. A total of 54 research papers will be presented in the two days of conference. All registered and presented papers are likely to be published in online special conference issue of IJMPERD, a Scopus indexed journal.
In his presidential address Chandrakantbhai Thakar spoke about the direct relationship of electricity generation and development of the nation. He urged delegates and researchers to work for society and to use their research work for the benefit of common man. The knowledge partners and Sponsors R.C. Plasto Tanks & Pipes Pvt. Ltd, Moil Ltd & Manmohan Minerals & Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. were felicitated by the hands of President of the function, Chandrakantbhai Thakar.
The abstract book was released by the hands of all dignitaries. Dr. M.M. Gupta, CO-Convener and HOD Mechanical proposed the formal vote of thanks. The inaugural function was compered by Dr. P.S. Deole and Prof. R. A. Agrawal.
Keynote: In his keynote address Chairman, Solar Energy Society of India (SESI), New Delhi, Prafulla Pathak, said about advances and research going on in energy sector. He also pointed about cost of generation of power for conventional & unconventional methods of power generation like Solar and Wind energy. He briefed the students about the progress of unconventional energy generation and utilization after independence. He also highlighted about the e-mobility and large capacity solar power plants.
Plenary Talk 1: Principal Scientist CSIR-CIMFR Nagpur, Dr. Lalit Kumar Sahoo, spoke on Energy efficiency Benchmarking. In his talk he highlighted the reduction in losses during energy conversion. He briefed about the energy conservation techniques for various household & commercial applications.
The day was followed by the sessions of industry experts on industrial case studies and technical paper presentation sessions by the participants.
