Sitting Shiv Sena MLA from Warora constituency Suresh alias Balu Narayan Dhanorkar tendered resignation from the post as well as membership of the party.
Some of the Congress leaders were camping in New Delhi to get him party ticket from Chandrapur seat. However, their efforts did not bear fruits.
Speaking to a section of media, Dhanorkar said he has made up his mind to contest the Lok Sabha election irrespective of the fact if Congress gives him the ticket or not. “I am ready to contest the election as an Independent candidate,†he said. “Shiv Sena will never give me a ticket for Lok Sabha hence I have stepped down as MLA and also resigned as party member,†he said.
Political activities in Congress camp in Chandrapur were changing fast with Congress finalising name of Vishal Muttemwar, son of former MP Vilas Muttemwar as its official candidate from Chandrapur.
However, with strong opposition from the local workers, Muttemwar voluntarily withdrew from the race. Since then various names have been making rounds for the seat with former District Congress Committee Chief Vinayak Bangade emerging as a strong contender.
