Green Vigil Foundation, Nagpur commemorated World Water Day (WWD) 2019, by organizing a citizen outreach campaign at Futala Lake, Nagpur on this year’s theme – Water for All, leaving no one behind.
Green Vigil members interacted with citizens on human right of clean and safe water for drinking, sanitation, hygiene and other purposes, without any discrimination. With colourful placards and posters volunteers of Green Vigil educated the people on necessity and ways of water conservation by adopting water sustainability practices and reducing water footprints.
Surbhi Jaiswal, Team Lead, Green Vigil Foundation stated, Nagpur faces acute shortage of water every summer and will be requiring 9.63 MMC more water this summer compared to last year’s requirement as per the study carried out by NMC’S water works department. Hence, the volunteers appealed to the citizens to conserve the water resources of the city and prevent pollution of water bodies .
Members of Green Vigil also demonstrated basic parameters to estimate water quality of water body namely pH, temperature, turbidity and dissolved oxygen.
Kaustav Chatterjee, Surbhi Jaiswal, Kalyani Vaidya, Bishnudeo Yadav, Madhusudan Chatterjee, Sheetal Choudhary, Vikash Yadav, Kartiki Kawale, Kalyan Choudhary, Dadarao Mohod, Nitin Kukekar, Rajat Jaiswal , Ruchi Soni and others worked hard for success of the campaign.
