Cardiological Society of India (CSI) Vidarbha Chapter; Association of Physicians of India (API) and Care Hospital, Nagpur jointly organised a two day CME on “Heart Failure : Pharmacotherapy and Beyond†on  March 23 and 24th, 2019 at Hotel Centre Point, Ramdaspeth, Nagpur.
Opening remarks were made by Director of Care Hospital, Nagpur, Dr Varun Bhargava. “With rise in non-communicable diseases such as Hypertension, Diabetes and Obesity, Cardio vascular disorders are on rise in India. Heart Failure: when heart pumping action is reduced due to weakness of Cardiac muscles – is also seen on larger scale in India. Managing heart failure with associated co-morbidities pose challenges and need not only drugs, lifestyle modifications but technologically advanced tools like pacemakers (CRT) and ICD implants said Dr. Varun Bhargava.
The first session was held on March 23, 2019. Dr. P.P. Joshi, presented “Heart Failure: current scenario in India†which was chaired by Dr Achyut Khandekar, Dr Kirti Tanna and Dr Mukesh Mishra.
Consutling Cardiologist of Care Hospital, Dr Ram Ghodeswar, spoke on “Role of Sacubitril/Valsartan in refractory Heart Failure. Dr. Aziz Khan deliberated on “Role of rivaroxaban in atrial fibrillation and heart failureâ€. It was chaired by Dr. Mukund Deshpande, Dr. Mahesh Fulwani and Dr. Nideesh Mishra.
Dr. K. Nageshwar Rao spoke on “Management of Heart Failure in Childrenâ€. Dr. B.P. Khobragade, Dr. Abhay Bhoyar, and Dr. Pramod Ambatkar chaired the lecture.
Dr. C. N. Narsimhan presented Cardiologist’s perspective on Treatment options for Resistant Heart failure and Dr. K. R. Balakrishnan presented Cardiac Surgeons perspective. It was chaired by Dr. P. K. Deshpande, Dr. Prashant Jagtap,  Dr Niteen Deshpande and Dr Anand Sancheti.
On Sunday 2nd session started with talk on “Patient selection for cardiac resynchronization therapy/Implantable Cardioverter defibrillator†by Dr Sachin Y. Dr. Manish Rai described “Step by step approach for CRT/ICD. Dr. Dilip Ratnani, Dr Mahesh Fulwani and Dr Kashif Syed were the Chairpersons.
Sabarivasan described programming of CRT/ICD Implants. Dr. Daljeet Kaur described “How to improve responder rate in CRTâ€. Dr. Aziz Khan, Dr. Anuj Sarda and Dr Rishi Lohiya chaired the talk.
Dr. Manish Rai described “Follow up of CRT/ICD implants patients. While Dr. Daljeet Kaur explained trouble shooting. Dr. Pramod Mundra, Dr. Sunil Washimkar and Dr. Anil Jawahirani chaired the session.
Last lecture was delivered on “DPP4 +SGLT-2: perfect partners for holistic Type 2 DM management†by Dr Vyankatesh Shivane and was chaired by Dr. Shankar Khobragade, Dr Kiran Belsare and Ajay Kaduskar.
Dr. Ram Ghodeswar summed up the meet, whereas, Dr Vipul Seta proposed the vote of thanks. Â The CME was largely attended and was accredited by MMC and granted credit hours to participants.
