Salaries of teaching, non-teaching staff in balance
The salaries of teaching and non-teaching staff of 43 aided colleges of Nagpur division have now landed in trouble as these colleges failed to get NAAC valuation done. Divisional Joint Director; Higher Education Archana Nerkar has issued show cause notices to these colleges in these regard asking them as to why the salaries for the month of March should not be stopped for failing to honour the commitment.
She has asked the principals of the colleges to file the reply immediately and also inform about the present status of the valuation of their respective colleges. If the colleges fail to send replies, the salaries will be stopped. Of the 43 colleges, 23 are affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU while 2o to Gondwana University, Gadchiroli.
According to the letter sent to these colleges, a meeting of principals of the colleges was convened at the office of Joint Director, Directorate, Technical Education on November 22, 2018. At the meeting, principals of the colleges, which failed to get inspection from NAAC, had assured that it would be done within three months. However, the colleges did not send any report nor did they clarify about steps taken regarding NAAC valuation.
Secretary, Technical Education convened a meeting at Mumbai on March 16, 2019 where the issue of non-agriculture college and aided colleges in Nagpur division not getting NAAC valuation came to fore. The senior officials expressed severe displeasure over the matter. Similarly, Joint Director Dr Nerkar was directed to initiate stern action against the colleges adopting dilly dallying tactics in getting the NAAC valuation. Following the directives, Dr Nerkar issued show-cause notices to these colleges.
