Goof ups during examination are not new for Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU). On Monday too, students had to suffer because of a major fault by the fifth-semester RTMNU which did not generate hall-tickets for around 50 engineering students from Bhandara.
According to sources, RTMNU generated hall tickets of 50 fifth-semester engineering students of from Pandav College of Engineering in Bhandara after the exam started at 2.20pm only after its apathy was posted on social media.
Due to the last moment rush only seven, who stayed at the exam centre, could appear in the exam while others had returned by the time hall-ticket was issued.
The seven students who got the hall-ticket late were given entry at 3.30 pm. But, this was not the end of varsity’s poor management. While seven students got additional time, other examinees at RM Patel College were not allowed to leave the hall till all the Pandav College students started their paper.
Sources said, the hall-tickets were issued after former NU management Council member Mahendra Nimbarte posted RTMNU’s apathy on social media. Soon students’ leaders made the post viral, hence exerting pressure on the RTMNU management, following which Management Council member Vishnu Changde and Senate member Manmohan Bajpai urged the vice chancellor SP Kane to let the students appear for exam.
Nimbarte and Padvidhar Mahasangh member Prakash Fulsunge stood beside the students at the exam centre, while Changde and Bajpai dealt with NU officials at Nagpur.
They said though the VC ordered issuance of roll numbers to students, many had left the centre. Nimbarte and Fulsunge then ensured that those still waiting at the centre appear for the exam.
College principal Narendra Giratkar however, blamed the students for the mess. He said the students who got lateral entry to second year failed to submit caste validity, non-creamy layer, marksheets and other documents on time despite several reminders. These students would be allowed for remaining papers but their results would be withheld till they submit the papers.
