While the election fever is rising across the country, to ensure 100 percent voting this season the Election Commission of India in collaboration with Indian railways has introduced long distance trains across the country to promote voting.
Out of the four trains used for the promotions, the Himsagar express was welcomed at the Nagpur railway station on Sunday. Various posters with slogans like “No voters should be leftâ€, “Voting is mustâ€, were pasted on the train to appeal voting.
Leaving from Kanyakumari the Himsagar express arrived at the Nagpur railway station on Sunday around 2.50 am. The rain was welcomed by Election Nodal Officer (Nagpur) Dr. Ranjana Lade, Nagpur Railway Deputy Station Head (Commercial), A.M. Shreevastav and Chief Guest Rakesh Kumar. The officers urged the passengers to click selfies with slogans and upload them to their social media platforms of the commission.
All the coaches of the train were carrying the election toll free number 1950 which provides all the details about the voting process for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. Actor’s like Aamir Khan, cricket player Rahul Dravid and television start Divyanka Tripathi have also joined the campaign to urge the people of India to move out of house to vote.
At 3 am on Monday, the nodal officer Dr. Ranjana Lade flagged off train to reach its further destination with the message to create voting awareness. Vinay Bagle of Municipal Education Department, Kapilnagar Hindi medium school principal Rajendra Pusekar, District Extension Officer Prabhakar Wagh, Sheshrao Raut, Vilas Lokhande, District Assistant Administration Officer Mahesh Raut, Anand Ambekar and Mrs Ujjwala Bhoyar were also present during the departure of the train.
