An inter-school speech competition was jointly organised by Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Airport Nagpur and Indian Meteorological Society (IMS), Nagpur Chapter to mark the Meteorological day recently. An exhibition was arranged on the instruments and activities of the department. The various sections were open to visitors.
The working of forecasting, pilot balloon observation, barometer, radiation, ozone reading, AWS, evaporation, Stevenson screen, hygrograph, thermograph, thermometers, rain gauge etc. Inter school speech competition on theme “The Sun, The Earth and the Weather “ was conducted for IX class students. Ten students from Bhavans Vidya Mandir, Trimurti Nagar, Narayanan Vidyalaya, Wardha road Nagpur and Montfort school, Nagpur were given entries in contest.
Speech contest On “The Sun, the Earth and the Weather†Due to time restriction program was scheduled for 2 hours only, therefore contestants were called only ten. A certificate of appreciation and memento were distributed to the participants. First three were selected for prizes, Riya Thakare, Ridhi Thakur and Anushree shukla confirmed first, second and third positions, respectively and others were awarded consolation prize.
Scientist- E and Chairman, IMS, Nagpur Chapter J.R. Prasad, chaired the event whereas, Secretary, IMS, Nagpur Chapter Dr. Ravindra Akre, conducted the programme. B.K. Kanojia, A.P. Patinge and P.K. Meshram were examiners of the contest.
Along with S.N. Bidyanta, M.R. Kanholkar, Rajesh Patole, Reena Surpam and Kunal Uikey were worked hard for successful the event.
