The hot Sunday morning failed to deter the brave Air warriors of Headquarters Maintenance Command, Indian Air Force at Nagpur who enthusiastically took part in the half Marathon which was conducted on 14 Apr 19 to mark the Birth Centenary of the late Marshal of Indian Air Force Arjan Singh DFC.
Aim of the event was to propagate the accomplishments and value system that of the legendary Marshal of the Indian Air Force stood for amongst Air Force Personnel posted at Maintenance Command and inculcate camaraderie and sportsmanship amongst the participants.
A total of 110 participants turned up at the HQ MC Parade ground early in the morning on 14 Apr 19 to take part in the Centenary Marathon. The route of the half marathon was through some of the most scenic and most historic areas of the Nagpur.
The runners and the walkers took part in the event distances of 6 Kms, 12 Kms, and 21 kms which was open only for Air warriors in two categories- namely below 35 years and above 35 years.
Corporal Dhiraj Kumar Mishra was the youngest and Air Vice Marshal GS Sandhu Vishist Seva Medal was the senior most participant in the half Marathon.
The Centenary Marathon was Flagged off at 0515h by Air Marshal M Baladitya Ati Vishist Seva Medal Vishist Seva Medal Senior Maintenance Staff Officer on 14 Apr 19. the medallions and the race T-shirts that each participant received showcased the Birth Centenary of Late Marshal of Indian Air Force Arjan Singh DFC.
