“Nagpur is moving ahead on the path of development with the help of Central and State Governments. The Orange city has completed first phase of Nagpur Metro Rail in record time. The city has a wide network of cement roads. We are also working on Nag River Rejuvenation Plan,’ said Mayor Nanda Jichkar while addressing a session at the 4th Asia – Pacific Forum on Urban Resilience and Adaptation – Resilient Cities Asia Pacific Congress 2019 at New Delhi on Monday.
Mayor Nanda Jichkar in her welcome speech said,â€In view of climate change; we are planning eco-friendly buses. Several initiatives have been taken for sustainable development of historic Nagpur city. “Said Nanda Jichkar who is also a Vice Chairperson of ICLEI South Asia Regional Executive Committee.
Hon’ble Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President of India inaugurated the forum.
Dr Ramnath Sonwane, Chief Executive officer of Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited was also present at the International forum.
The programme has been organised by ICLEI- Local Governments for Sustainability in the Asia Pacific. The three-day forum was hosted by South Delhi Municipal Corporation with support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Corporation, European Union, International Development Research Centre, GIZ and other partners. This is the fourth International forum organised by ICLEI. Around 150 representatives of local authorities participated in the forum. A senior corprator Sunil Agrawal was also present.
Mayor Nanda Jichkar will participate as panelist to discuss Urban Nexus Approach in Cities for Implementing Global Agendas on April 16th.
