G H Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur first year Engineering department organised a mini model’s exhibition recently.
Mini model is a credit subject for second semester BE and it aims at inculcating and imbibing a scientific temperament amongst the students. The themes for the mini models were waste management, health care, agriculture and out of box thinking. In coherence with these themes, around 230 models were prepared by the students.
Projects like advanced GPS navigation for ambulance under health care, air filter device under waste management, modified farming with the help of hydroponics under agriculture and web based application for vegetable vendors under out of box category won first prize.
The healthcare based projects were judged by eminent experts like director and chief anesthesiologist, Centre Point Hospital, Nagpur Dr Sandeep Meshram and HOD, SDKS Dental College, Nagpur Dr Ajay Khade. According to the judges the projects were innovative and have real life practical application especially in rural areas.
Dr Meshram in his address emphasised on making projects cost effective in view of its real time applications. Joint director from Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), Nagpur Rajesh Ranjan, admired the agricultural based projects and said if they are scaled up then they are of immense help for farmers for sustainable farming.
Joint Director from CPRI, Nagpur Dr S K Nath, remarked that this was an excellent experience for the students in view of the budding innovators working on the social and environmental issues. Senior Scientists & Head APC Dr Padma Rao and scientist from prestigious National Environment and Engineering Research Institute Rahul Wyavahare, were impressed by the projects made by freshers and suggested that in future, problem from the research institute or industry can be taken for win-win situation. MD & CEO, Syslogyx Ranjit Singh appreciated that some of the ideas have real potential for successful startups. All judges appreciated the hard work and innovativeness of the budding Engineers.
Director, GHRCE Dr P R Bajaj congratulated the students and faculty members for their efforts. She advised students to take their project to the next level by implementing the suggestions given by the eminent judges so that they can create a better version of their models.
Dean First Year Dr B P Butey and the faculty members of first year Engineering Department strived hard for the success of the event.
