After holding a review meeting on the Nag River project, the Nagpur Municiapal Corporation (NMC) have geared up for the cleaning work of the river.
There are around 273 nallahs in the city. Â NMC decided to divide the desiltation work of the nallahs in three parts, the Nag river, Pili river and Pohra river.
The responsibilities have been allotted to senior officers while an officer equivalent to the post of executive officer will be appointed to keep watch on the complete work.
The length of Nag river, Pili river and Pohra river passing through the city is 48 km. NMC will take care of Nag river and Pohra river while Nagpur Improvement Trust will look after the Pili river.
Initially 15 poclain machines, 10 tippers and 12 JCB machines are required for the cleaning. Beginning from May 5 the campaign is expected to be completed in 30 days.
