In a major jolt to Sewa Automotive, an authorised dealer of four-wheelers, the State Consumer Greivance Reddresal Commission has maintained the verdict pronounced by the district consumer forum against it. The consumer forum had directed the showroom to pay Rs 3000 as compensation and Rs 2000 for expenses incurred in legal proceeding to a customer, Mukesh Sharma, for delivering the car a day late then assured time.
Sharma had approached the consumer forum on October 24 last year seeking compensation.  Sewa Automotive owners had approached the State Grievance Reddresal Forum against the order. They claimed that the customer was asked to take another car till his car was not delivered but he refused. Sewa Automotive, however, could not provide any evidence to prove their claim.
The commission found that the showroom charged Rs 20,662 for servicing and petitioner had to pay the entire amount despite delay in delivery. Commission found the car dealer guilty of not providing proper service to the customer as promised by it. Hence it maintained the order pronounced by the district consumer forum and rejected Sewa Automotive’s plea.
