Gleneagles Global Hospital Hyderabad celebrates its Numero Uno position on this World Liver Day

More than 50 Patients from Maharashtra underwent Transplant Services at the hospital

Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Lakdi-ka-pul is currently host to one of the busiest and comprehensive liver disease management programme. The centre performs adult as well as paediatric liver transplants. Till date it has performed over 700 liver transplants which include over 100 paediatric liver transplants. More than 50 Patients from cities such as Vidarba, Marthawada, Sholapur, Kolapur, etc from Maharashtra region underwent Transplant Services and were treated for various Liver Diseases. The path breaking journey had begun in 2003. The visionary leader and well acclaimed surgeon and Chairman of Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Dr. K. Ravindranath wasthen saddened with nation’s inability to provide access to quality organ transplant set ups for Indian masses. Patients had no choice but to die. He dreamt to set up world class multi organ transplant centres in India.

He and his team collaborated with Kings College hospital, London; (one of the most reputed liver transplant centres in world) to set up liver transplant programme in India.

Weight reduction does wonders for both the liver & Cardio Vascular morbidity.  Patients who present with Acute on Chronic Liver Failure syndrome qualify for urgent liver transplantation”.
