Reinforcing its commitment to compassionate, patient-centric healthcare,AIIMS Nagpur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sevadaan Aarogya Foundation (SAF) for the establishment of an 800-bed Vishram Gruh within the AIIMS Nagpur campus. This landmark initiative is aimed at providing affordable, safe, and dignified accommodation for the relatives and attendants of patients undergoing treatment at the Institute.
The proposed Vishram Gruh will be a dedicated facility offering clean and comfortable accommodation, hygienic meals, and essential amenities at nominal charges. The initiative is expected to substantially reduce the financial and logistical burden on families travelling from across Maharashtra and neighbouring states for specialized medical treatment at AIIMS Nagpur.
The Vishram Gruh reflects AIIMS Nagpur’s vision of extending healthcare beyond clinical services by creating a supportive environment for patients and their caregivers. By ensuring that attendants have access to safe and affordable lodging within the campus, the Institute aims to provide greater convenience, dignity, and peace of mind during the course of treatment.
The construction of the Vishram Gruh is expected to commence upon completion of the remaining statutory and administrative formalities, marking another significant milestone in strengthening patient-support infrastructure at AIIMS Nagpur.
In another major development, AIIMS Nagpur has been earmarked by the Government of India as a Centre for Secondary Medical Management of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) emergencies. This recognition highlights the Institute’s growing capabilities in disaster preparedness, emergency response, and the management of complex public health emergencies, further strengthening its role in the national healthcare and emergency response framework.
Further enhancing its advanced diagnostic and research capabilities, AIIMS Nagpur has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for the establishment of a Biosafety Level-III (BSL-III) Laboratory. The proposed state-of-the-art facility will significantly strengthen the Institute’s capacity for advanced diagnostic investigations, surveillance, and research on high-risk infectious diseases. It will also improve preparedness for emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases while enhancing regional and national public health response capabilities.
These landmark initiatives—the establishment of the 800-bed Vishram Gruh, the upcoming BSL- III Laboratory, and the designation of AIIMS Nagpur as a CBRNE Secondary Medical Management Centre—underscore the Institute’s unwavering commitment to strengthening patient care, advancing diagnostic and research infrastructure, and enhancing national health security.
