Nagpur City Congress Committee President Praful Gudadhe, along with Congress leaders, corporators, office-bearers, workers and student activists, was detained by police on Tuesday evening during a protest held outside Raj Bhavan in Nagpur.
The demonstration was organised in solidarity with AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, who were staging a protest outside the Prime Minister’s official residence (Lok Kalyan Marg) in New Delhi over various issues concerning students.
Following a call by the All India Congress Committee, the Nagpur City Congress Committee organised the protest outside Raj Bhavan to highlight students’ issues and express support for the party’s national leadership. Protesters assembled near the Raj Bhavan gate, carrying placards and raising slogans demanding justice for students and immediate action on their concerns.
Police intervened shortly after the protest commenced and detained Praful Gudadhe along with several Congress leaders and workers, citing preventive measures to maintain law and order. The protesters were taken into preventive custody and removed from the protest site.
