Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said attacks on government employees on duty will not be tolerated under any circumstances, warning that those who take the law into their own hands will not be spared. Speaking to reporters, he said serious criminal cases have been registered against the accused in such incidents.
Addressing the assault on a stamp inspector in Pune, Bawankule said Pune Police Commissioner acted swiftly with strict measures, though some accused, including a lawyer, remain absconding. He said officials facing misconduct complaints have legal recourse to lodge grievances, but resorting to violence is inexcusable. He also appealed to stamp department officials not to go on strike over the incident.
On the NEET-related protests, Bawankule alleged the agitation is a political conspiracy by opposition parties aimed at tarnishing the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He said the government has taken strict action against those responsible for the paper leak and has put in place measures to prevent recurrence.
