In a significant recognition of its excellence in biomedical research and research capacity building, the CIIMS-Advanced Research Centre (CIIMS-ARC), Nagpur, has been selected by the Department of Health Research (DHR), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, as a mentor institution under the National Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MRU) Capacity Building Initiative.
Under this prestigious national initiative, the ICMR-Collaborating Centre of Excellence (CCoE) at CIIMS-ARC, under the leadership of Dr. Rajpal Singh Kashyap, Director, CIIMS-Advanced Research Centre, has been entrusted with mentoring the Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MRU), S.S. Medical College, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, for organizing a comprehensive three-day Grant Writing and Research Methodology Workshop.
The workshop forms part of a nationwide programme launched by the Department of Health Research to strengthen research capacity in medical colleges by enhancing expertise in research methodology, scientific writing, grant proposal development, research ethics, study design, biostatistics, and translational research. The programme aims to equip faculty members with the knowledge and practical skills required to develop competitive extramural research proposals aligned with national health priorities.
Faculty members from several leading medical institutions across Madhya Pradesh, including S.S. Medical College, Rewa; Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal; AIIMS Bhopal; Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College, Jabalpur; and MGM Medical College, Indore, are expected to participate in the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajpal Singh Kashyap said:

This initiative provides an excellent opportunity to strengthen research ecosystems within medical colleges, foster multidisciplinary collaborations, and empower faculty members to develop high-quality, competitive research proposals addressing national health priorities. Daginawala, the unwavering support of the CIIMS management, the encouragement of Dr. Lokendra Singh, Director, CIIMS, and the dedicated efforts of our young research team.”
The workshop will follow a hands-on, outcome-oriented approach, enabling participants to formulate research questions, prepare grant proposals, develop scientifically robust study protocols, and understand key aspects of translational research. In addition, participants will receive post-workshop mentorship to facilitate successful submission of research grants and implementation of research projects.
The selection of CIIMS-Advanced Research Centre as a mentor institution under this prestigious national initiative reflects its growing contribution to translational medical research, scientific innovation, and research capacity building.
