DG NDRF , S. N. Pradhan, IPS, DG NDRF visited National Disaster Response Force Academy, Nagpur (NDRFA) along with IPS, IG, NDRF, Ravi Joseph Lokku, DIG (Trg), Manoj Kumar Yadav and DIG (Works), K. K. Singh. He along with officers visited the proposed site for NDRF Academy at village Suradevi, Tehsil- Kamptee. There he was briefed by Commandant/Director NDRF Academy Manish Ranjan, regarding the upcoming Disaster Management Infrastructure for NDRF Academy, Nagpur which will be established soon.
The new NDRF Academy campus will come up in 153 acre land and in future International and National level courses in the field of Disaster management will be organised wherein stakeholders along with National and International responders will be trained. This project has already being sanctioned and soon the construction of the academy will commence. Infrastructure will be of International standards.
Later on he visited the NDRF Academy campus in Civil Lines. He inaugurated NDRF Academy campus, City Centre which was established in 2015 after merger of National Civil Defence College into NDRF Academy. Manish Ranjan, Commandant is the first Director of NDRF Academy, Nagpur
Commandant/Director, Manish Ranjan, presented a briefing on the Academy. He briefed about the teaching and training methodologies, innovated by R & D cell of Academy- a pioneering tool of Academy manned by talented officers of the Academy. For innovative training Academy has adopted the model of KSA i.e. (Knowledge Skill & Attitude) which helps trainee’s to develop their theoretical as well as Practical skills.
DG, NDRF, S. N. Pradhan, appreciated the “Culture of Purpose†maintained by Academy Commandant/ Director, Manish Ranjan and his firm dedication & motivation to translate training into result and his efforts to establish NDRF Academy a centre of excellence in limited resources.
Later, he interacted with NDRF Academy officers, personnel & appreciated the training methodology and innovations like newly developed equipment, “Victim Locating Camera†which can be utilised in Collapse Structure as well as bore well rescue operations and station Rotation, Track drill, Vertical & Horizontal rescue methods in collapse structure operations etc. He also checked the readiness of CBRN equipments, which are used to train various responders for Industrial, Chemical, Biological & Radiological accidents/incidents.
A demonstration on Rope rescue was also performed which was well appreciated by the DG NDRF and Officers. DG also interacted with the trainee’s who are undergoing training in ToT MFR and CSSR course and Communication for Civil Defence course. Mr. Pradhan emphasised on the need of training in disaster response. A Sainik Sammelan was addressed by IPS, DG NDRF, S. N. Pradhan, in NDRF Academy wherein he gave his warm wishes to Academy Officers and personnel.
