Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Students’ Chapter installation ceremony was organized on May 1, at the Department of Architecture and Planning, VNIT, Nagpur.
The event was graced by Chairman, Board of Governor, Vishram Jamdar, Director, VNIT, Dr. Pramod Padole, President, Council of Architecture (CoA), Prof. Ar. Vijay Garg, New Delhi and Chairman, IGBC – Vidarbha Chapter, Ar. Ashok Mokha. The guests were welcomed by offering them sapling as an indicator life supporter. The event started with the welcome address by Head of The Department of Architecture and Planning, Dr. V.S. Kapse,. He welcomed the guest and elaborated the development activities of the department.
Director, VNIT, Nagpur, Dr. Pramod Padole, a multifaceted personality addressed the event and enlightened the gathering with his thoughts and ideas. He mentioned the initiative taken by the institute for the societal development and multiple green initiatives like using solar energy for generating electricity,
The department of Architecture and Planning, prepared a Newsletter to display the activities (Short Term Training Programs, Workshops, lectures, and other events) of the department and achievements of students and faculty members. The Newsletter was released by thehonorable guests.
Chairman IGBC Vidarbha Chapter, Ar. Ashok Mokha, addressed the event and furnished the goals and functioning of IGBC. He also provided the benefits of associating with IGBC. The Dignitaries and the IGBC team handed over the certificate and coffee table book to the department of Architecture and Planning, VNIT, Nagpur.
Ar. Vijay Garg, President CoA, New Delhi addressed the occasion. He had a great opportunity to be associated with Late Dr. Prem C Jain, prior Chairman IGBC and a ‘green visionary’. He further expressed his commitment in expanding the green movement in industry and academics.
Vishramji Jamdar is renowned industrialist, educationist, spiritual thinker and a writer is associated with VNIT as Chairman, Board of Governors.In his address he acknowledged the research activities of the department extend the same by developing a model from the indigenous knowledge system. He stressed on the traditional architecture which had less energy input but high sustenance.
The program was anchored Dr. Sarika Bahadure, Coordinator Architectural Society and formal vote of thanks was presented by Shelvin John, Ladies representative, Architecture Society.
The event was attended by the Deans, VNIT, special invitees, faculty members, Research scholars and students of B.Arch and M.Tech Urban Planning, VNIT, Nagpur.
