The 158th birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore will be celebrated jointly by the Saraswat Sabha library, Bengali association and Bengali education society at Saraswat Sabha Library Hall in the evening of May 9, 2019 at 7 pm.
President, Saraswat Sabha Library, Dr. Tapan Chakraborty and President Bengali Education Society, Pradip Ganguly informed that cultural.
Performances will be presented by the artists of Nagpur. The poet will be remembered through recitation, singing and acting of Tagore’s creation. A musical composition depicting evolution of Tagore’s music from its early stage will be delivered by Kamalesh Banerjee supported by Ravindrasangeet exponent Rakhi Jha.
A dramatized version of Tagore’s small story ‘Kankal’ directed and composed by Anjan Biswas will be performed in Audio-drama format. The drama will be enacted by Anjan Biswas, Dr. Kaushik Chatterjee, Nina Saha, Ashok Roy, Indrani Roy and Nabamita Chakraborty. The programme will be conducted by Dr. Kaushik Chatterjee and Nina Saha. The subjects of both the programmes are experimental in nature and are expected to be enjoyed by the audience.
Tagore has a special place in the heart of each Bengali. He has not only earned the first Nobel Prize for the Indians but also has given shape to the modern Bengali language, culture and created a new stream of music called Rabindrasangeet informs Pradip Maitra, President, and Bengali Association.
“Our Association in co-ordination with other Bengali organisations of the city has been organising a series of Bengali cultural activities in the city to uphold and promote the rich Bengali culture,’ Maitra said  and urged members of Bengali community and other Bengali organisations of the city to come forward and support the activities of Bengali Association.
