City mayor Nanda Jichkar said Dhurve family who has created an Asia Book of Record by swimming 16-kilometre distance between Elephanta Caves and Gate Way of India within 4.31 hours made the city proud and they were inspiration not only to the sportspersons but to all the citizens.
It can be mentioned here that Sukhdeo Dhurve along with wife Vaishali, son Sarthak and daughter Tanvi were felicitated at mayor’s chamber recently. Education committee chairman Dilip Dive, sports committee chairman Nagesh Sahare and senior corporator Sunil Agrawal were present on the occasion. Mayor honoured Dhurve family members by presenting memento, shawl and shrifal.
The adventure expedition was jointly organised by Wamanrao Dive Charitable Trust, Victorious Club and Gallantry Club. NIS coach Yogendra Khobragade, Nishant Raut, Chetan Garge, Vilas Solanki were present during the expedition. Dhurve has claimed that they are the only family in Asia who has achieved such feat.
