Despite all out efforts of the education department, seats under Right to Education (RTE) Act, remained vacant in the first phase of admission which has ended on Friday. As per information available, 3904 children took admission out of 5701.
Now, the officials have geared up for second phase of admission. Sources said that letters would be sent to all schools to gather information about the admission along with the number of vacant seats. Later, draw of lots would be taken out for the students waiting for second phase.
Among the 26000 students applied online, 5071 students were allotted schools. However, there are 7204 seats were kept reserved in 675 schools of the district.
Sources said draw of lots would be taken out for all seats. However, the education department hoped that all seats would not be filled as parents want their wards should be admitted in selected schools.
The first phase of RTE began on April 11 and April 26 was the last date. The date was extended to April 30.
Later, the last date was extended to May 4 and for the time to May 10.
