Behind the Satpuda hills of Ramtek lies a hidden gem Khindsi Lake famously known for its beauty, the lake is one of the many attraction of Orange City but what makes it more special is the biggest boating center of India in the valley of Khindsi lake owned by Rajkamal Boating and Adventure Club, Khindsi which is owned by Gaurav Chouksey.
Surrounded by hills on three sides and abundant water in between, this place is a nature’s delight and a tourist’s heaven. Rajkamal Tourism which has been recognized and appreciated by Tourism Ministry Govt. of India has developed the spot from scratch, giving employment to over 100 local workers at Khindsi and over 500 people indirectly.
The place always surrounded with youngsters and families who enjoy the natural beauty of the place with many entertainment options, and making the scenes no less than the beaches of Goa. The place has India’s only inland water Zorbing and banana boat rides, apart from the more conventional water scooter, speed boat, paidel boat, rowing boat, watercycle etc.
It is remarkable that one person Chandrapal Choukasey, popularly known as “Paryatak Mitraâ€Â in Vidarbha has single handedly developed such a beautiful tourist attraction and has put an example of how an ideal picnic spot should be – safe, clean and hygienic with abundant washrooms, well compounded and well look after, and also very lowly priced. Various available activities like nature walks, trekking, camping can excite even the most adventurous of visitors.
A brief interaction with the manager of the spot revealed that all the employees are locals with little or no formal education, but strong dedication and well trained to cater to the needs of tourists and have been trained from National Institute of Water Sports to handle all situations. It makes one wonder about the potential of development of tourism industry in the remotest parts of the country and what terrific impact it can have on the local economy.
A little support from the Government in encouraging tourism experts like Choukasey can change the face of tourism industry in Central India. Encouraging such eco tourism projects will not only help in generating employment and revenue but will also create more harmony between nature and people.
Rajkamal Tourism has developed over 12 eco tourism projects in Vidarbha in places like Ambazari garden Nagpur, Mahan- Akola, Khindsi Lake, Ghodazari lake, Junona-Chandrapur, Seoni, RAMDHAM, Ramtek etc. and even operates several tourism projects in central India. Rajkamal Tourism also has many stars on their shoulders as they registered their names in Limca Book of Records 2014.
