The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has arrested six accused for unauthorised ticket booking and sale. The raids were conducted at six places. Total value of the seized item is over Rs 3.35 lakh.
Acting on a tip-off that a travel agent was able to procure confirm tickets, raids were conducted at the office of six travel agents in the city.
According to sources, a team of RPF raided the office of Prabhat Tour and Travel at Ayodhya Nagar and seized 11 tickets and 17 cancelled tickets worth Rs 57,615.
Similarly, on Tuesday, a team of RPF recovered several tickets worth Rs 59,984. In another raids, ticket and other items were seized during a raid.
Senior DSC of Nagpur division Ashutosh Pande said that incidents of fraud are on rise. Many people take advantage of festival and holiday season rush by making bulk reservation. Such raids would continue in future to crackdown on illegal activities.
It is pertinent to note here that in raids conducted by the Railway Police Force (RPF) in the last few months on illegal ticket booking agents, lakhs of rupees and unwarranted rail tickets have been recovered.
