The Indian Society of Anesthesiologists, Nagpur City Branch recently organized debates on various topics for its members. Dr. Manisha Shembekar, President ISA NCB in her welcome speech stressed on the fact that freedom of opinion and speech is the fundamental right of every individual. Every citizen can put forth his point through a debate.
First topic of debate was “Given a choice, I would like to be reborn as anesthesiologistâ€. Dr. Umesh Ramtani spoke for the motion while Dr. Gunjan Badwaik spoke against the motion. Second topic of debate was “Working as corporate anesthesiologist is more gratifying than Freelance anesthesiologistâ€. Dr. Ravi Mundada spoke for the motion while Dr. Sachin Sadavarte spoke against the motion. Third topic of debate was “Conferences are a waste of time and moneyâ€. Dr. Saurabh Barde spoke for the motion while Dr. Vikram Alsi spoke against the motion.
The debate was judged by two eminent anesthesiologists from city, Dr. Narendra Tamhane, senior practicing anesthesiologist and Dr. Vivek Bhargav, H.O.D., National cancer institute. Dr. Gunjan Badwaik was adjudged as the winner whereas Dr. Vikram Alsi was declared runner up.
The competition was followed by annual general body meeting of the society.
The program was conducted by Dr. Swapna Bhure and Dr. Soma Cham, Hon. Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.
