At 46.5 degree Celsius, Nagpur recorded the highest ever maximum temperature of the season on Sunday to become hottest place in Vidarbha region along with Wardha which too reeled under scorching sun at 46.5 degree Celsius. Chandrapur and Bramhapuri also recorded over 46 degree Celsius on Sunday.
Vidarbha is reeling under severe heat wave like condition with mercury hovering around 45 degree Celsius in most of the places.
Nagpurians too are feeling the heat with mercury zooming towards 47 degree Celsius mark. On Sunday city recorded 46.5 degree Celsius, which was 3.3 notches above the average normal temperature. In the last five days, city’s temperature has increased by nearly three degree Celsius. According to met officials, temperature is likely to go up in the next few days. The IMD has issued six days heat wave warning alert for Nagpur and other cities in the region in particular – Chandrapur, Akola, Amravati, Bramhapuri and Wardha.
All these cities recorded maximum temperature of 45 deg Celsius and above.
On Sunday, scorching sun forced people to use protective gears right from 8 am. Hot breeze was sweeping the city and there was no relief even in the evening. The afternoon heat was unbearable. People preferred to stay indoors with coolers and air conditioners on.
Those who went out for work used scarf and sunglasses to protect them for blistering heat.
