The Gorewada Lake Sanitation Campaign was organized in association with Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Environmental Voluntary Organizations on Sunday. In this cleanliness drive, workers of Gorewada Jungle Trekkers, I Clean Nagpur, Paryavaran Prerna Vidarbha, Swachh Association and NGO volunteers, along with Mayor Nanda Jichkar and Corporator Harish Gwalbanishi, contributed.
Earlier this year, lake cleanliness campaign had been started by NMC. All NGOs have been invited to participate in this cleanliness campaign. Some NGOs have taken the initiative in the Gorewada Lake to clean the pond area. In this, Swachh Association of Anasuya Chhabarani, Sharad Paliwal, Dilip Trabhane, Prashant Kadu and the Mayor Innovation Award team participated.
During the drive Mayor Nanda Jichkar along with her husband Sharad Jichkar inspected the tracks around the lake area. Jichkar said that every citizen should take an initiative to keep the pond clean. Proper measures should be taken to ensure that there is no waste in the ponds and surrounding areas. Mayor advised that people should not litter and also should stop others from throwing the dump in the pond.
In this cleanliness campaign Yogesh Aneyani, Tushar Pandey, Vandana Mujumdar, Sandeep Agrawal, Aditya Pathak, Rupendra Nanda, Alka Kushwaha, Arvind Gawande and many other citizens were present.
