A Hindi play “1919 Azadi Ki Or” was staged by Rashtrabasha Parivar Samajik Sanskrutik organization. The play was staged on the last day of Miraki Theaters workshop.
The chief guest of the program was Deepak Khirwadkar, Director of South Central Zone Cultural Center (SCZCC) Nagpur.
With the chanting of ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ audience were enthralled with the performances of the young artists. Blissful relations among the brothers of various communities were shown in the act which took the audience back in time of 1919 and the sacrifices done by the people.
The play kept all theater lovers in their seats as it was staged on the events of Pre Independence time showing a intense picture of Jallianwala Bagh massacre done by British Indian Army under the command of Acting Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer who fired rifles into a crowd of unarmed Indian civilians who had gathered in Jallianwala Bagh.
The play also depicted the after effects of the massacre and how that set a fire among the people to fight for independence. It also showed different roles played by our freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Mahamata Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Uddam Singh and the sacrifices made for Independent India.
The play was performed by Mangala Sanap a student of National school of Drama. Through this play audience were connected to the actors who portrayed the events of 1919 with their acting skills.
