Turning down the rumours regarding the selling of liquor at Saoji hotels, Guardian Minister and State Excise Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Friday said that there had been no decision taken on granting license to Saoji Hotels in the city.
Bawankule’s statement came after some officials and Media persons claimed that the Excise Department has granted permission to Soaji Hotels to sell liquor.
Bawankule also informed that around 90 % of the Saoji Restaurants in the City are not eligible to grant license.
Typically, FL-3 licenses are issued to the restaurants. However, for a legal sale of liquor, a hotel owner needs to have permission from different departments including, Police, Municipal Corporation, Food & Drug Administration etc. The Final decision to grant permission is taken by Committee headed by the Collector.
